It is hard to adequately convey the joy of equipping lovely individuals with tools to promote their passions. Lucky us, we get the honor of doing that daily for our clients, but a particularly lively and fun opportunity materialized lately in the form of our Headshot Giveaway Contest! We ended up with two deserving winners from a pool of wonderfully unique local professionals… and our winners both just so happened to work in creative fields: our randomly generated winner is an author of diverse talent and ambition, and our popular vote winner is a voice-over actress, director, and costumer with an impressive film and theatrical resume.

Barb, a seasoned author with an easy smile and smooth confidence, had a diverse set of hopes for her images: an author’s portrait for web and print, portraits to promote speaking and editing services, and – as a bonus – a portrait of collaboration for future use. An author’s portrait should exhibit personality and – depending on their genre – a sense of mystery or the unspoken imagination behind the eyes of the writer. Barb’s original headshot was professional, but too formal. We removed all risk of stiffness with the perfect setting, a place of inspiration for Barb and her best friend and creative kinswoman.

Barb had this to say about the location:

My best friend and I walk on the Centennial Trail out in the Valley in Mirabeau Park, there is some great scenery there. Walking there the last five years we have built a kinship with the place and the river expresses the journey of our lives, both the calm places and the roaring waters. It would be great to do the session there if that’s not outside your range. I think that setting really expresses the heart and spirit of the main character in my women’s fiction series.

The opportunity to spend a beautifully drizzly morning capturing the personality of these talented women was a real joy, and we wish them all the best in their writing endeavors!
