Our Community

Rooted in Spokane

Our Story

Rogue Heart started in 2010 as a fledgling travel blog, marrying “Rogue” (risks, adventure, wanderings) with “Heart” (home, roots, love of life). On January 16, 2011, Megan and her life partner filed Rogue Heart as a Limited Liability Company and filed for their own marriage certificate a few months later. With this name, they sought to build a different sort of storytelling home.

Rogue Heart has evolved & grown, and is now a woman-owned Social Purpose Corporation fueled by a love of community, a celebration of the human spirit, and a commitment to authentic visual storytelling. Each day, our team aims to intrigue, inspire, and positively impact other people: wherever life finds us, we humbly meet our fellows with dignity and respect for their stories. We find people infinitely interesting, and we genuinely care about what they endeavor to accomplish. That care and understanding shines clearly through every piece we create.

Our Commitments

We appreciate life’s complexity as well as its simple truths, and we aim to mindfully tell stories through an intersectional lens. Our studio is women-led, and our work is defined by our commitment to telling important stories with the respect, empathy, compassion, and careful nuance they deserve. This commitment allows us to enter sensitive spaces and support vulnerable people and communities through effective communication and authentic representation. Our process starts with being present and listening, asking compelling questions, and connecting with the unique values of each partner.

Purposeful Giving

Donations

Rogue Heart Media is committed to giving back at least 5% of our profits to nonprofit organizations, particularly those local to the Spokane area, which are committed to addressing poverty, affordable housing, equitable access to education, and environmental conservation.

Donation recipients are assessed based on their documented impact and service areas, often following site visits and collaborations that give insight to operational effectiveness. Corroborative evidence of integrity is also sought through assessment of third-party funders such as the Women Helping Women Fund.
